I want to take a moment to thank my faithful readers! I love your comments and interactions. Please keep visiting; I will be doing a few giveaways in the coming weeks. And now, back to my lesson:
I've been starting to contemplate readings and signings. I'll be doing readings at a number of Bay Area bookstores. Since I'm a visual person, I want to bring things for people to look at and/or interact with at presentations. Plus, as a somewhat shy person, I'd much rather share the stage than have it all to myself.
So, I decided that it would be fun to have a little Buglette doll to bring along as well as leaves for my little listeners to sit on. (Thank you Mom for helping me to sew 20 leaf cushions!) It always amazes me how much better kids do at listening when they have a "spot". I'm hoping the leaves will serve this purpose.

Oh Bethanie, he is such a sweetie and the leaf cushions are an inspired idea. I also think children will really relate to them. Can I feel some merchandise coming on...??!! ;0)
I have so enjoyed this journey,

LOVE that little Buglette! The kids will love it!
Very sweet. I'm sure the kids will behave on their lovely leaves.
Thanks everyone. I'm really looking forward to doing readings with my "props". I'll report back...I have a few scheduled in May.
The leaves and Buglette doll are awesome! Those kids are going to be very surprised. I just hope you don't wind up with more kids than leaves- I can see the drama now!
I also have a mom helping me out by sewing velvet cases for my hand made books. Moms are cool, huh?!
Yes, Jill, let's hear it for moms! Mother's Day is right around the corner...I definitely need to come up with something wonderful for mine this year. :)
BTW, I'll be in touch soon about Visual Storytellers. Looking forward to being involved.
Wow! The Buglette and the leaves are brilliant! And the leaves gave me a vivid flashback to sunday school, where we'd pick out a square of carpet that became our spot for the lesson. For some reason I coveted a rust colored one, and would rush to the pile to get it. Not a pattern, not a bright, happy color, but the one that looks like rust. But I loved that rust carpet square, and you're right, I didn't budge from it.
Okay, I want a leaf ... or 20! I don't know about the kids, but know I wouldn't move from my leaf. So cute. :)
That Buglette doll is so adorable! Did you make that as well?
